Re: 212/Akudorik Stands
I filled the plastic bags provided with the stands with dry "cat litter sand" when I first installed my 212's, and I have never looked back. However, I would stongly recommend replacing the spikes with Gaia feet. Pretty much did the same with mine. The Gaia III’s made a huge difference and are the ...

Re: Akurate CD player
It seems like it was eons ago that I last spun a CD but I do remember having a CD cleaning disc that had small brushes on it that cleaned the laser. Remember using it in my car when CD’s starting skipping and from memory it seemed to work. Not sure if they are still available.

Re: Audiobooks?
Thanks for reply. There is no ‘Audio Books’ genre in the UK app. Shame it would have been a nice feature to have.

Is this on a standard Qobuz subscription? I am unable to find any and there is no audiobook genre in the app.

QNAP NAS MALWARE ATTACK
Any QNAP users on here are advised to check their files. See this link for more info: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/massive-qlocker-ransomware-attack-uses-7zip-to-encrypt-qnap-devices/ Unfortunately for me, I have a lot of affected (or should that be infected) files. Fortunately I h...

Re: LINN Classik K - CD Engine & DAC Quality
I still have my Classik in my second system hooked up to a pair of mark2 Kans. A very satisfying little system that never fails to make me smile. I purchased it new in 2000 for £999 and it has never missed a beat and is still used regularly by my wife and I in our study. I worked out it has so far c...

Re: Quality digital music: Do You Buy or Rent?
In an average month, I will listen to around 80% new material and 20% old stuff. I have Qobuz and even if I play an old album I will choose the highest res. Qobuz version instead of my own rips. I could never afford to buy all the new stuff I listen to and even if money was unlimited, I would not bu...

Re: 4100 gain settings
The manual refers to the first version (see pic above), there the setting "3" (just below the n in gain) equals 0 gain. On the newer version (second pic), 0 means zero gain. OK thanks. I am enjoying the sound at +3 but I will try it back at zero later. I don’t suppose it makes much difference as lo...

Re: 4100 gain settings
Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I am a bit confused. I recently read in the 4200 manual (see photo) that the gain for non active use is 3 and not 0 as recommended by Tandaberry. Although I am only using two channels, I have set all channels on my 4200 to +3 as stated in the manual and all seems ...

Thanks for that Tandaberry. At the moment I am connected to channels 1 and 4 (the two furthest apart channels). I will move 4 to 3 at the weekend.

Linn Akurate 4200 using only 2 channels?
Hi Guys. I have recently stopped bi-amping my Passive Akudoriks and now have them single wired. This means that my 4200 is only using 2 channels with 2 channel’s redundant. When I purchased the amp, my dealer set some internal jumpers to link 2 channels together so that 2 channels were left and 2 ch...

Re: Recommended tool for 242 3 k array torque settings
I struggled to find one of the recommended torque tools here in the UK but have added it to my watchlist on eBay. I managed to find a small electronic torque screwdriver and purchased one for the time being. It’s actually very good. I set it to 0.8nm and tightened my 3k array on my Akudoriks and was...

Re: Recommended tool for 242 3 k array torque settings
I have fairly new Akudoriks and assume they were torqued correctly in the factory before shipping. I also assume that Linn use either air powered or electric tools to torque the bolts when assembling. The closest I have to that is a Makita 18v drill with a bit that does fit the bolts. The Makita ha...

Re: Bi-amp question?
Thanks for all the tips guys. I am lucky enough to have a joiners workshop with a bandsaw. I should be able to split the cable using the bandsaw quite neatly. I can then sell the other length. I know this won’t go down well on this forum, but I have (need) an 8 mtr length for each speaker.

Re: Bi-amp question?
I may be missing something, but I do not see the necessity of splitting K400 to try single amping. Just ignore one pair of cables in the standard K400. Donuk Only for the reason of looks and tidiness. The K400 is an ugly cable and is hard to hide behind the Akudoriks stands. Splitting it in half wi...

Re: Bi-amp question?
Thanks for replies so far. I have tried it single amped but never noticed any discernible difference. My speakers were just new at the time and had not fully run in. I will give it another try soon. I have k400 cable and don’t want to split this until I am 100% sure that single wired is better. Inte...

Bi-amp question?
Is there any downside to bi-amping Passive Akudoriks with a Linn 4200? I can understand that a power amp with a transformer would be better using only 2 channels as the power supply is not sharing its output into 4 channels. But an amp such as a 4200 with a Dynamik power supply can share the power o...

Re: Noise Cancelling Headphones Bose Q15 vs AKG NC495 vs PXC250
My son, on a whim, bought me a pair of B&O H8i noise cancelling headphones as a Christmas present. They were not intended for me to use with my HiFi but more for when I was travelling. I have to say they are pretty good, comfortable to wear, and the noise cancelling is quite good. I can’t compare th...
