Re: JBL 308P and 708P
Hilarious! Having owned 3677s and 308P mk1s, and currently owning 305P mk1s in a secondary system, not to me. JBL308P mk1 is a seriously musical active speaker - in my system, as enjoyable as Tundra mono and 242 combination. Kalla , spotify, a good preamp ( I tried with Giella Pi and sagatun mono) ...

Re: JBL 308P and 708P
Without going too much off-topic, but connecting a Källa to the analogue input of an Exakt system is going to be inferior Isn't a similar situation with a Källa being connected to JBL308P or JBL708P? Perhaps, with the difference that the JBLs are much more musical than any Exakt system I ever heard...

Re: Questions of a newby to Lejonklou..
Your reasoning is good. Source first. You've already replaced the poweramp section of the MDSM, and either ADS or KRDS will function the same as a streamer/preamp. (Assuming you have no other sources, the only preamp function you need is the volume control.) Linn's DVC has gone through several gene...

Re: What is an adequate replacement for the briks?
In my home, my Briks are beaten by: Bozak Symphony speakers (bought for £500 about ten years ago). Significantly more tuneful bass than the Briks. Midrange and treble at least on a par. EV Sentry III speakers (bought for £415 plus £80ish in repair costs). More tuneful midrange and treble. EV Patric...

Re: Mains improvement, after the wall socket
Having done many similar tries I understand your reaction, but would be careful about the conclusion. Although the separation of the mains may have had the effect of the system being perceived as less musical and it was most probably correct. Please note that I was not there and is merely speculatin...

Re: What is an adequate replacement for the briks?
In the past days I have experimented a lot with the briks in terms of set-up and bass response. Problem described here: https://www.lejonklou.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5053 . ... Are the NBL an adequate replacement for the briks? I have no serious experience with the NBLs, but lived with Linn I...

Forget everything you think you know about digital audio and listen to what Peter Q is saying in the video below: https://youtu.be/BijKabByrZQ (just skip forward when he is not talking!) You cannot use tune dem to distinguis between 16/44 and 24/96. Why should 24/96 give more soundstage and details...

Bose NC 700 ... I hope you will like them. I am sort of addicted to my pair ever since we moved into the city centre of Uppsala. Thanks! I’m not really used to listening to music on headphones (previously mainly at the computer and for referencing when mixing, but it is a real relief to use noise c...

Re: Tune Dem of Headphones
The old type with the 1/8" plug and without the DAC in the lightning connector sounds the best of the Apple varieties. I haven't heard the new Pro variety. I mostly use Bose NC 700 headphones. Noise canceling is fantastic and the mics give outstanding quality on conversations in noisy surroundings....

I can confirm that high-res recordings have much better potential to sound good than the CD-format. This is based on tests done with both pro-recording equipment as well as on bought high-res music files. When doing my own recordings I have found that, with the equipment I have tested the higher the...

Spec sheet says they go down to 65Hz Aktiv but only 72Hz passive? Yes, these are probably right. But I presume it's the -3dB figure, which shows where they begin to roll off. The aktiv 109's roll off steeply in the lowest bass, where for instance Ninka will be more flat and let you hear more of tha...

Re: Linn T-Kable worth the upgrade
I am not a big fan of the newer Mogami T.Kable and find its predecessor more musical. You can still buy the grey T.Kable as the Akito arm cable, it also comes with the newer Linn aluminum DIN plug for the bottom of the arm. I would say it would be more musical than the Majik cable, although I haven...

Anyway; One of the benefits with vinyl (apart of the listening experience) is the large album sleeves and the additional experience that brings. Re: hcl (@Rocred Records)
Thanks for your support! Making vinyl is rather expensive and I fail to see how that would benefit the music. The album is mixed to sound the way it sounds (on a really good streamer such as the top Linn streamers), not how it would sound after it has gone through the process of being pressed to vin...

Re: Determining optimum solder temperature
It looks quite ok, but a bit low on solder. Add some (maybe) 30% more than you done to the joints in the pictures. When applying solder and heating after, pay attention to what happens to the solder. There will be a point when the solder suddenly breaks into more free floating. That is when to stop ...

We are often asked "If the album is any good?" and to answer such a question with some credibility is difficult without any objective references, so external reviews are very important.
